How to Write a Letter

Step 1: Write Your Letter

Top Priority: Letter to Town Board

The Town Board has proposed adding crematory (human/animal) to Use Table for the Town of Lloyd’s Light Industrial zones.

Putting animal and human crematories in the Light Industrial zone in our town (where cremation is currently illegal) is not a solution to the pet crematory next to the elementary school problem. It simply causes more problems down the line.

Please read this fact sheet to learn more, or watch the recent Town Board meeting where many residents discussed why this is a bad idea.

Please write a letter to the town board explaining why you don’t want human and animal crematories in our town.

Secondary Priority: Letter to the ZBA

The Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing about the “service business” determination is still open. Learn more about this issue here.

If you are writing a general letter, check out our About page. Items you could discuss include:

  • The unusual determination that a pet crematory is a “service business”

  • The close proximity to the school and Babe Ruth ball fields

  • Concern for children’s lung health

  • Concern for children’s mental health

  • Concern for property values

  • Concern for the town’s reputation

If you visit the About page, you will find more information about all these items.

Step 2: Send Your Letter

Send your letter to people who can influence the project. This could include town council members, committee members, and education leaders. This could also include individuals who you know who are not on this list. If you have good ideas for contacts, please let us know.

  • Top priority (this issue is before the ZBA): Town of Lloyd Town Board
    c/o Wendy Rosinski, Town Clerk
